Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 October 2026

This policy explains how Mercatus Academy collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use this website, make an enquiry, purchase tuition or communicate with us.

Who is responsible for your information

Mercatus Academy is the controller of personal information used for its tuition and business administration. Company No: 17157818 England & Wales. For privacy questions, email mercatusacademy@outlook.com.

Information we collect

We may collect your name, email address, telephone number, country, current learning level, course choice, learning goals, messages, session arrangements and records of our communications.

When you pay through Revolut, Revolut processes your payment information. Mercatus Academy may receive transaction details such as your name, amount paid, selected product, payment status and reference, but we do not receive or store your complete payment-card details.

Our website host and service providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps and security or diagnostic logs.

How information is collected

Information is collected when you complete the website contact form, contact us by email, WhatsApp, telephone or social media, purchase a course, arrange or attend tuition, or otherwise provide information directly. The website contact form is delivered through Formspree and sends your submission directly to Mercatus Academy.

Why we use your information

We use personal information to respond to enquiries, recommend an appropriate learning route, confirm and administer purchases, arrange tuition, provide customer support, process cancellations or refunds, keep financial and contractual records, protect the website and establish or defend legal rights.

Our lawful bases may include taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing a contract, complying with legal obligations and our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the academy. Where consent is required, you may withdraw it at any time.

Who receives your information

We do not sell personal information. We may share relevant information with providers supporting the service, including Formspree for contact-form delivery, Revolut for payment processing, our website-hosting provider, email provider and professional advisers. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect legal rights.

These organisations process information under their own terms or under arrangements with Mercatus Academy. Some providers may process data outside the United Kingdom or your home country. Where restricted international transfers apply, appropriate legal safeguards should be used.

How long we keep information

General enquiries that do not become customers are normally retained for up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact, unless there is a reason to keep them for less or longer. Customer, contract, payment and accounting records may normally be retained for up to six years after the relationship or transaction ends where needed for tax, accounting or legal purposes. Information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer reasonably required.

Security

We take reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect personal information. No website, email or online transmission can be guaranteed completely secure, so please do not send unnecessary sensitive financial or identity information through the general contact form.

Your data-protection rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal information; restrict or object to processing; receive certain information in a portable format; and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. These rights can be subject to legal exceptions.

To make a request, email mercatusacademy@outlook.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting.

Complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. UK customers may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. Customers outside the UK may have the right to contact their local data-protection authority.

Cookies and external websites

The website may use technology necessary for security and operation. If non-essential analytics or advertising cookies are introduced, appropriate information and consent controls will be provided. Links to external services, including Revolut and Instagram, lead to websites with their own privacy notices.

Policy updates

We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The latest version and update date will be published on this page.
